Catastrophic activity has given form to the environment in which we exist. I believe that these events are cyclical, generating loops of feedback that are both positive and negative. I am curious about how catastrophe affects structure, disorder in the environment, and how humans attempt to regulate systems that are outside of our control. The embodiment of energy in objects and the memory of the material in which they are made is crucial to understanding the work that I create. These sculptures explore my fascination with catastrophe, and potential energy. They are vessels of my own physical exertion and attempt to capture the moment in which catastrophic events occur and their aftermath.
